Norman J. Levy Park & Preserve may seem a bit on the modest side at "only" about 50 acres, but don't let that fool you. Hikers journey to the highest point in the preserve to enjoy a breathtaking view of the Manhattan skyline, best experienced around dawn and sunset. Its trails, gardens, and playgrounds are all open between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday each week. Conservancy members get free admission to use the park's amenities. Non-member visitors pay a flat $15 per car. The kid-friendly Fall Fun Fest is on September 28, not far from some great Sands Point homes for sale.
Sagamore Hill was once known as "The Summer White House" thanks to 26th U.S. President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt's fondness for it.
