Long Island Visual Treasures: Photography Day Destinations
August 19th is World Photography Day when we pay tribute to the art form of photography. What better way to celebrate than by snapping a few photos yourself? Luckily, Long Island is a very photogenic place. Whether you're looking for photos to hang on a wall or fill your Instagram page, these are some of our real estate agents' favorite places to take pictures on Long Island.

Photography opportunities abound in Hempstead Lake State Park, which spans 737 acres and includes three freshwater lakes. Hempstead Lake is the largest lake in Nassau County and an especially great place to snap some fall foliage photos as the leaves start to turn. Hempstead Lake is also open to canoes and kayaks, which provides a unique vantage point from which you can get some great landscapes. It's hard to imagine a more photogenic place than Old Westbury Gardens, a sprawling estate with a historic manor house and acres of rambling, beautifully manicured gardens. It's an especially popular destination for wedding and engagement photos, and the gardens can also be used as an outdoor wedding venue. The lighthouse and the surrounding coastline are part of Montauk Point State Park, which also includes hiking and equestrian trails.
